Fine day. At office. Busy with labour
matters. Big excitement in Mas
terton, a large contingent of mount
ed men going by special train to
Wellington to act as special
police during the strike. This
step has been taken by the Wairara
pa country people for the pur
pose of assisting to get their pro
duce away by boats. Took Mr &
Mrs Shearer to see Mrs D (Dolly)
Bannister’s property at Lansdowne
with a view to selling it to them.
Claude Welch down from Te Mara
& stayed the night with us, prepar
atory to going to Wellington in
the morning with mounted special
police.
