Fine day. At office.
Took Kemble, Mrs D
McLachlan & Ruby McLachlan
to see O Bunny’s property
at Lansdowne with a view
to Kemble purchasing same.
Very pleased with same
& agreed to buy subject
to price & terms being
satisfactorily arranged.
Took Bernie at night to the
Town Hall to see the Boxing
Contest for the middle weight
title of N [New] Zealand & a purse
of £50. A 15 round bout.
The “go” was fairly willing from
start to finish & Ireland B
made the pace at the start. Murphy D
defended well & scored well at the last
getting the verdict given by Sampson
Barney. Ireland was the holder
of the light weight title & Murphy
of the welter weight title.
Ireland weighing 11 st 1 lb
Murphy 10 st 6 lbs. Murphy scored
his win by using his straight left
to advantage all through.

day with me in looking
around for a suitable
place to buy.

pars [particulars] of Chennells & Galway
5019 acre leasehold out
from Porangahau. Down
to YMCA room  &
played chess winning
an off game against Jones

Spray Oil & water &
sprayed our apple trees.
Made the mixture strong
about one in 12 & it took
it all its time to kill
the Woolly Aphids.

Fine day. At office.
Not much doing.
Saw S Connell of Lansdowne
& offered him part of the
Lansdowne estate. Advised
me that he would see me
again tomorrow about it.
Bertie with Gretta & Eileen
went to the Town Hall to
hear the final performances
of the Competitions in the Mas
terton Musical & Elocutionary
Society’s Competitions. I put
in nearly an hour grinding
down with Emery powder &
fat the boiler tap, which
has been leaking for a long time. Stopp
ed the leaking absolutely.
